• Phosphite (PO3-2) has only three oxygen atoms with a hydrogen atom bonded strongly to the phosphorus atom. This makes a more compact ion, and thus it is more readily absorbed by foliage. Applications of phosphites in plants can trigger a response that “tricks” the plant into “thinking” it is phosporus starved and therefore initates soil mining for nutrients. It is also believed that phosphite applications can impact and speed up the Shikimic Acid Pathway (energy producing process in plants) and thereby increase the production of:
